EAU CLAIRE Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A lawsuit filed against the Eau Claire Area School District over its policies on gender identity has been dismissed by a federal judge.
A group called parents protecting our children filed a lawsuit in September, claiming the district’s policies do not require parents to be notified if their child wants to identify as a different gender.
The district filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit in November saying the group’s concerns are based on speculation and a misunderstanding of the guidance
“The judge noted, just as we had already believed, that the only reason that this was brought forward was because of intentional misconstruing of what the document actually says.”
The federal judge granted the school district’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit last week, stating that the parent’s group lacks standing.
