Local Christmas tree farms prepare for busy season

Local News

This week not only kicks off Thanksgiving meals and black Friday shopping but another activity. Many will be starting to decorate for Christmas and that includes shopping for a Christmas tree.

For many families as soon as the Thanksgiving dinner is over it’s time to turn to Christmas season.

Lowes Creek Tree Farm in Eau Claire says they are ready for the Christmas holiday and are open for the season. Business will pick up all week long and into the weekend for families setting up their tree. They share tips on how to make your tree last all season long.

“Make sure that the stand you have your Christmas tree in has a nice water bowl and that you have water in that bowl at all times for this tree who is very thirsty right now to take up,” said owner Therese Olson. “Because it is a fresh tree you don’t want to have the water level go down below the tree stand or below the trunk because the sap in the tree will start sealing that over and the tree will no longer be able to take water.”
