EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. — Saturday was a day anyone could drop off unwanted or expired medication as part of the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Marshfield Medical Clinic in Eau Claire and the Altoona Police Department took part in the event in an effort to prevent the misuse of prescription drugs.
Lt. Scott Kelley with the Altoona Police Department said pain medicine, insulin and other prescription drugs were accepted.
“Once we collect them, they’re secured and we take them to the state where they dispose of them, usually through an incinerator,” he said.
The Altoona Police Department accepts unwanted prescription drugs every Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
