Tuesday marked 50 years since Apollo 11 launched and Saturday will mark 50 years since Americans took the first steps on the moon.
To celebrate a UW-Stout professor decided to create his own replica spacesuit for the occasion.
The spacesuit is now on display at the Menomonie Public Library.
Dr. Alan Scott spent time researching, watched YouTube videos to learn to sew and then spent close to 80 hours completing the project.
“It’s made out of a white canvas, it has several components, just like the real suit would,” said Scott. “I needed to have a ventilation system to keep me alive because I do intend to wear it and I have worn it before.”
In addition to the spacesuit hanging, the Menomonie library has other events going on for the anniversary to learn more click here.
