Competition at the 2013 Midwest Log-Rolling Championship on Lake Wingra in Madison, Wisconsin

An annual tradition will once again be coming to La Crosse.

The La Crosse Area Log Rolling Association is hosting their 19th annual La Crosse Open.

The event will take place on Saturday, July 20 at the Chad Erickson Memorial Park. It will feature around 40 competitors in eight different divisions. Of the participating competitors, 19 of them are professional log rollers.

This year will be the first year the association has hosted the tournament at Chad Erickson Memorial Park. In the past, they’ve only offered demonstrations.

Event coordinators say they are excited to bring the tournament to this venue.

“It is a beautiful park and we are anxious to share it with our logrolling community” said Shane Burns, La Crosse Logrolling Coordinator.

Log rolling begins at 10:30 with the amateur competition and the professional competition will follow. The event is free for spectators. If you do attend, you are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
