Massage parlor operator charged in court

Businesses near two Eau Claire massage parlors that were busted for human trafficking and prostitution say they were shocked to find out this was happening next to them.

Dongmei Greer, 55, was charged in Eau Claire County Court Thursday with human trafficking, benefiting from human trafficking and two counts of keeping a place of prostitution.

Police say Greer is the license holder for both parlors Lucky Massage on North Hastings Way and Angel Massage on Menomonie Street. Police shut down both businesses on Tuesday.

According to a criminal complaint, the massage parlor employees, who police say were all Chinese women and many didn’t speak English, were performing sex acts on men at the parlors in exchange for money.

Police say Greer was responsible for the business’ operations as well as directing the activities of the employees.

The complaint says In June, a person called police about activity at Lucky Massage, saying clientele had become exclusively all men and that employees would wear a uniform that looked more like lingerie than a professional uniform.

The complaint also says the manager would demand payment and threaten to release video of a customer at the parlor if they did not pay.

Nearby businesses say this news came as a surprise.

“I was totally shocked,” said one nearby employee. “I actually met her on several occasions. She was really super nice.”

Another worker at a neighboring business tells us when she worked late shifts, she would see people coming in and out of the parlor past midnight.

Police say the Lucky Massage and Angel Massage had several building code violations, dirty beds, and also say there were employees living at the businesses. The complaint says 3-5 women would also stay at Greer’s apartment each night.

“It was kind of a quiet business,” said Jaden Lisser, an employee at a nearby pawn shop. “We didn’t see a lot of people go in or out. We didn’t really see anything suspicious.”

In the complaint, two employees denied any sexual activity occurred at the massage parlors.

The court gave Greer a $10,000 cash bond.

If convicted, Greer is facing up to 62 years in prison.
