EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – There’s a new way for Eau Claire grade school students to find a book. Meadowview Elementary now has a vending machine for books. When students celebrate a birthday they receive a token for a free book.
Trust Point Wealth Management funded the books and the machine. Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation Executive Director, Todd Johnson, says, “I know not all kids can have books. Not all can afford to have these books, but when they get to receive a book, when you see it in their eyes and their eyes light up, you know you’ve made a difference. You know it’s going to engage them to read. And anything we can do to foster that desire to sit down and just enjoy a book, I think, you know, if a vending machine helps with that, I’m all for it.”
The students can choose from more than twenty books.
