Midwest Coast, a new Eau Claire organization, looks to tap into Eau Claire’s artistic community

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Last year Eau Claire native Jared Choate walked from Kenosha to Minneapolis to support Black Lives Matter. Now, he’s looking to inspire people through the arts with a new organization.

Jared and his wife Kelly founded Midwest coast.

They had their first event last Friday in collaboration with the bar Odd Humyns.

The sold-out show had a lineup entirely made of members of the LGBTQ plus community.

“It’s such a beautiful thing to see the community come out. It was their first show since pre-covid and so seeing people in a room, it was emotional, it was deeply emotional,” said Jared.

Kelly said, “There’s a great art community here already and we just want to kind of build on that”

The couple say they want Midwest Coast to be to be a platform for artists to express themselves and give a voice to those who may not know how to find their own.
