MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The Milwaukee Bucks were able to draw even with the Phoenix Suns in the NBA finals, now, knotted at 2 wins apiece.
However, the action before the game wasn’t on the Fiserv Forum Court, but, in the storm clouds above.
Cassidy Williams shows how Bucks fans were backing their team, rain or shine.
As storm clouds rolled in just before four, heavy rain and thunder sent suns fans on the run.
But Bucks fans were ready for when the skies cleared.
“Even if it’s going to rain, it’s not going to stop them from needing our support inside. That’s what we’re going to do: be here and support,” said one Bucks fan.
The Bucks organization kept a close eye on the storms.
Inside Fiserv, a conference room has become a command post.
Dustin Godsey, Bucks Chief Marketing Officer said, “We’ve got TVs, dozens of screens on the wall. Some with radars, some just with cameras outside making sure we’re keeping an eye on things out here.”
Bucks pushed the plaza’s opening from 6 until 6:30 And when gates opened—the deer district filled quickly.
Bucks leaders say they were ready to cancel the watch party if needed—but they know this crowd is essential.
“It’s super important to have people out here at this point. It’s become a big thing for the city of Milwaukee, for this fan base. On a global basis people are seeing this and really impressed with what Milwaukee is bringing during this finals run,” said Godsey.
Rain may be a problem for the suns, but not a problem for loyal Bucks fans.
