MILWAUKEE COUNTY Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A Milwaukee County sheriff’s deputy was shot after a traffic stop led to a foot chase. The Milwaukee County sheriff says the deputy was shot in both arms and his torso early this morning, but the wounds are not believed to be life-threatening. He adds the deputy responded as backup after another deputy made the stop.

The sheriff says the driver and a passenger ran away, but the driver was soon arrested. Investigators are working to determine whether a person found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and another person arrested in the area are connected to the shooting.
