LA CROSSE, WIS. (WLAX/WEUX) – La Crosse Mayor, Mitch Reynolds says he believes Oktoberfest can be held this weekend safely.

In a statement, he said no new guidance has been added by the health department to the Oktoberfest organization, adding as long as those who attend are masked, vaccinated, and outdoors he has no concerns.

He notes that those who do not follow the guidance is out of the fest organization’s control and would occur regardless of whether sanctioned parades or fest events took place.

In that statement, the mayor also added quote, “It might be noteworthy to point out that while I have been asked about County Health Department recommendations about large gatherings, La Crosse County Government Representatives are hosting hundreds attending a mostly indoor Wisconsin Counties Association Convention in La Crosse this week.”
