EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A project for lane expansion on County Highway T is getting more support. The city of Eau Claire has agreed to join Eau Claire County, Chippewa County and the towns of Wheaton and Union in funding the project.
Highway Commissioner Jon Johnson says it will take 30 million dollars for design and construction. He says the corridor serves 10-thousand cars a day and is what festival goers take for Country Jam, “That’s another large milestone for this group to have that actual design of the corridor started. So, with that, that helps us become more competitive with future grant applications and helps identify any potential unknowns as well.”
Johnson says he’s also expecting federal funds as part of a bipartisan effort from Senator Tammy Baldwin and Congressman Derrick Van Orden. The award is still to be determined.
