Local News

WASHINGTON, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The names of those involved in a fatal, officer involved shooting in Eau Claire County are released. The shooting happened November 22 on Corona Avenue in the town of Washington.

A preliminary investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department shows 37-year-old Randy Lacoursiere was armed with knives and advanced on law enforcement before he was shot and killed.

Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Ring and Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper Ryan Roth were named as those who shot at Lacoursiere.

Law enforcement officers responded to Corona Avenue for a domestic disturbance. A woman and three children got out of the home through windows to bring them to safety.

As law enforcement officers say they tried to de-escalate the situation, they say Lacoursiere left the home and charged at officers.
