New ADA Accessible Garden at the Kane Street Community Garden

LA CROSSE, WI, June 10, 2021 – The Hunger Task Force of La Crosse is pleased to announce the opening of our ADA Accessible garden space on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at 4pm.

As part of its commitment to serve the community, The Hunger Task Force is opening our UNITY GARDEN area which will remove barriers and make our space more usable and enjoyable for everyone!  This area will enhance the inclusion of the elderly and those with differing abilities in gardening activities at our Kane Street Community Garden.

The Unity Garden is a 28×64 foot space that will be bordered by a cement walkway to give those in wheelchairs or other mobility devices access to 6 raised beds. 

Created with the help of many donors, volunteers and other supporters, the project will highlight the leadership of The Hunger Task Force in creating opportunities for citizens with disabilities and mobilizing people of all ages and abilities to work together in supplying healthy food for all.

The Kane Street Garden in located at 901 Kane St.  Produce grown at the garden is distributed free to the community on harvest days.
