MENOMONIE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The Wisconsin Department of Justice is releasing new details in a fatal officer-involved shooting in Dunn County. The DOJ identifies the man as 45-year-old Nicholas Ciccarelli. The shooting happened January 21st near Terrill Road and Bongey drive in Menomonie. Investigators say Ciccarelli broke into a home, threatened the person who lived there and fired a gun.
The person in the home wasn’t hurt and Ciccarelli then stole that person’s car. Officers pulled the vehicle over and say Ciccarelli got out of the driver’s seat, approached officers, and moved his gun towards one of them. Two police officers and a deputy fired their weapons, hitting Ciccarelli. First aid was given, but he died at the scene. All the law enforcement officers involved were placed on administrative leave.
