CHIPPEWA COUNTY Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A new judge has been assigned to the Lily Peters homicide case in Chippewa County. According to online court records, Steven Gibbs is the new judge.
Attorney Michael Cohen is representing the teenage suspect in the death of 10-year-old Lily Peters and asked for a new judge. The request was approved on September 21st with Gibbs getting the official assignment today.
No reason was given for Cohen’s request to have a new judge. Chippewa county Judge Benjamin Lane presided over the case since charges were filed in April. A scheduling conference is set for Thursday.
