EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – In August, downtown Eau Claire will have new regulations surrounding parking. Downtown parking currently allows individuals to park for two hours. After those two hours, individuals have to move their vehicles. With the new enforcement, after two hours, individuals will have to move their vehicle to a completely different block when parking.

General manager of Tangled Up in Hue, Sarah Hammes-Murray, said, “I feel like overall 2 hours for our business. A retail business is more than enough time to stop in, shop around, even go to another business, maybe get lunch. I feel like 2 hours is plenty of time for that. I think overall, getting the turnover rate increased is going to help people find spaces.”

However, a bartender from Reboot Social, Andrew Osbourne countered, “It is common for someone to stay here for an hour and a half, 2 hours and I think that will affect us a lot as people are not going to be worried more about their parking and getting a $60 ticket over, being able to just enjoy themselves and all of the businesses here downtown.”

The new parking rules will go into effect at some point in August.
