SPARTA, Wis. (WLAX/WEAU) – A man serving a life sentence for killing a child in Tomah in 2019 is convicted on additional charges. The Monroe County District Attorney says yesterday, a jury convicted 39-year-old Marcus Anderson of false claims of military service.

The conviction stems from a 2019 sentencing hearing where Anderson claimed he served in the Marine Corps. The DA says Anderson was never a Marine and never served in any branch of the military. Anderson was sentenced to one year in prison, and one year of extended supervision, which will be served at the same time as his life sentence.
