New OakLeaf Surgical Hospital CEO, Jim Nemeth

ALTOONA, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – OakLeaf Surgical Hospital announces that Jim Nemeth has been named Chief Executive Officer. Jim succeeds Anne Hargrave-Thomas who served as CEO for Oakleaf for the past 12 years.

Mr. Nemeth comes to OakLeaf with a strong background in various hospital leadership roles. Jim’s professional journey began as a Combat Medic in the US Army, a role that marked his entry into the world of healthcare. After serving his country, he transitioned to civilian life, delving into the demanding environment of Emergency Rooms in Detroit. His commitment to continuous learning propelled him to secure a nursing degree from Henry Ford College.

Having built a strong foundation in clinical practice, Jim lent his expertise to Beaumont Health, where he held various roles for nearly two decades. He navigated through clinical and leadership positions, reflecting his adaptability and dedication. While enriching Beaumont’s healthcare landscape, he further augmented his qualifications, earning a BSN and MBA from Eastern Michigan University. His accomplishments also earned him a commission as a US Army Reserve Officer.

Jim’s abilities saw him ascend to several key hospital leadership roles, including Director of Emergency Services at Beaumont Health, Director of Patient Services at The Children’s Hospital of Michigan, and Chief Nursing Officer at Borgess Health. Most recently, he served as the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President at Memorial Healthcare.

“Jim is a tremendous addition to our leadership team. He has a visionary approach to strengthening staff, physician, and patient engagement, as well as a passion for operational excellence,” Dr. Thomas Peller, Board of Directors of OakLeaf Surgical Hospital.

Beyond his practical experience, Jim has been recognized for his expertise and leadership. He holds a Board Certification as a Nurse Executive (ANCC) and is a proud Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).

Jim is married and has 3 children. He and his wife are excited to relocate to the Chippewa Valley.
