Officials in Wisconsin seize non-functioning bomb

Local News

Threats made online led to the Dane County bomb squad being called to a home in Adams County.

The CIA passed an e-mail on to police in the town of Rome that contained a bomb threat.

Police arrested 33-year-old Chad Wawrzyniak for making threats about a Wisconsin Rapids resident.

Wawrzyniak told police that there was an explosive device in his shed.

The Dane County bomb squad found the device and declared that it was non-functional and there was no threat to the public.

“As you can imagine, that doesn’t happen often-if ever. It’s surprising when it happens, and you take it very seriously,” said town of Rome Sgt. Adam Anderson. “Some people don’t take others seriously when they make threats like this always take it seriously and report it if it happens.”

When law enforcement talked to the target of the threats, the person said they did not know what they did to provoke the threats.
