Omro community bands together to honor hospice patient’s wish for one last car show

OMRO, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A Wisconsin community banded together this weekend to honor a hospice patient’s wish for one last car show.

Generations homecare and hospice put on Jerry’s Car Show in the parking lot of Omro High School Saturday morning.

The guest of honor, Jerry Applegate.

His niece Kimberly says Jerry loved cars and was always attending a car show.

Kimberly Owens, Jerry Applegate’s Niece said, “Community comes together in good times and in bad times. Though this is a bad time, we’re all coming together as one and as a last wish for someone. That to me is what it truly means to show up for people.”

Azura Memory Care, Motor Mania, and Appleton’s Corvette Club all banded together to make jerry’s wish come true.
