Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – You might see a familiar face on Jeopardy today! Tuesday afternoon, Jason Smith of Onalaska will be a contestant on America’s favorite quiz show.

Smith says ever since high school his friends and family would tell him he should try out to be on Jeopardy! because he knew so many random facts about a variety of subjects. He was in his high school quiz bowl and has since been a regular at bar trivia nights.

Now the audition process is rigorous. It involves an initial jeopardy test you must pass, then mock game show auditions and several more hoops to jump through before one may or may not get the call to come out to L.A.

Smith says his education and persistence are all due to the teachers he had in Onalaska.

“They kind of ignited that passion for learning and curiosity that got me to explore different subject matters that maybe I did not know much about. That’s continued ever since, and kind of led me to Jeopardy. So, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank those folks that invested in my education,” said Smith.

Per show contracts, we don’t know how Smith did just yet. He is expected to be in tomorrow afternoon’s episode of the game show.
