CHIPPEWA VALLEY Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Prom will be here before you know it and one Chippewa Valley group is making it possible for young ladies to get a dress free of charge. For the 11th year in return, for six hours of community service, girls can get a free prom dress. The three-day event consists of thousands of donated dresses from community members and stores like Macy’s. Williams Diamonds in Eau Claire donates jewelry for girls to pick out as well.

“I think prom is just one of those experiences in high school that is important to a girl and a boy…and some girls just don’t have the resources or the means to be able to do that, feel comfortable and beautiful and I just think this gives everybody an opportunity,” said Stephanie Bauer of Once Upon a Prom.
