ELK MOUND Wisc. (WLAX/WEUX) – One week removed from Thanksgiving, all sights are set on the holiday season and selecting that perfect Christmas tree. Pleasant Valley Tree Farm in Elk Mound has been matching customers with the green giant for nearly 40 years. You can either cut your own tree down from their fields or choose a fresh pre-cut tree from the display.

The tree farm offers Balsam Firs, Fraser Firs, White Pines, and some Spruce. Owner Dan Sharlau says they started planting the first Christmas trees on the land in 1983 and the rest is history.

“The people that come out that want to cut their own tree is about 2/3. About 1/3 buy one off of the stands here. The season has been good, we’ve had seasonable weather, a lot of cold nights which is good to put the trees into dormancy and good for needle retention, so it’s been very favorable.”, said Sharlau.

The family also makes ready-to-order Evergreen wreaths and porch pots. The farm will be open daily from 6 am to 9 pm through December 23.
