Local News

AS THE UNITED STATES NOW HAS THE MOST CONFIRMED CORONAVIRUS CASES OF ANY NATION…

PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS OFFICIALLY SIGNED THE CARES ACT INTO LAW, BUT IT WASN’T ALL SMOOTH SAILING ON CAPITOL HILL.

FOX’S LAUREN BLANCHARD IS IN WASHINGTON WITH HOW IT ALL WENT DOWN.

THE HOUSE PASSING THE LARGEST STIMULUS BILL IN AMERICAN HISTORY – 2.2 TRILLION DOLLARS FOR THE ‘CARES’ ACT… THE THIRD CORONAVIRUS RELIEF BILL.

“To the American public, we hear you and we’re working for you.”

IN A BIPARTISAN MOMENT,

HOUSE SPEAKER NANCY PELOSI SIGNING THE BILL ALONG WITH MINORITY LEADER KEVIN MCCARTHY.

“As soon as possible, its benefits will be available to the American people.”

SENDING IT OFF TO THE PRESIDENT’S DESK, WHERE HE SIGNED IT INTO LAW.

THE BIPARTISAN BILL WAS EXPECTED TO SAIL THROUGH THE HOUSE BY VOICE VOTE TO MINIMIZE THE NUMBER OF LAWMAKERS IN THE CAPITOL.

UNTIL ONE REPUBLICAN, KENTUCKY REPRESENTATIVE THOMAS MASSIE, TRIED TO FORCE A ROLL CALL.

“An insufficient number haven risen, a recorded vote is refused.”

THE EFFORT WAS DEFEATED, STILL A NUMBER OF LAWMAKERS WERE FORCED TO FLY FROM ALL OVER THE NATION TO PHYSICALLY BE IN THE CAPITOL.

“They had enough people there to pass the bill, but they still refused to have a recorded vote, and they told me they were trying to protect members.”

WHILE THIS WAS A MASSIVE STEP IN HELPING SEND CASH TO STRUGGLING AMERICANS, AND ALLOCATING MONEY FOR SMALL BUSINESS LOANS…

MANY IN CONGRESS AND A NUMBER OF STATE AND LOCAL LEADERS SAY THERE WILL NEED TO BE A FOURTH BILL IN THE FUTURE.

THE SENATE IS OUT OF TOWN UNTIL LATE APRIL AND THE HOUSE OFFICIALLY STANDS IN RECESS.

HOUSE MAJORITY LEADER STENY HOYER SAYS HE’S NOT SURE HOW LONG THAT WILL LAST.

THEY’RE STILL FIGURING OUT WHEN IT’S SAFE TO COME BACK AND IF THEY CAN WORK REMOTELY.
