PORT EDWARDS, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The Wood County Sheriff’s Department says they have identified the remains of a man found in July. On October 2nd, The Wisconsin Department of Justice gave a report that they had found a DNA match, linking the remains to Paul Christian from Waupaca Wisconsin.

He would have been 49 years old today. The sheriff’s department says between July 19th and July 22nd, remains were found in the Wisconsin River near the dam in the Village of Port Edwards. Officials say they don’t know why he died at this time or why he was in Wood County.

The investigation is currently ongoing, and limited information is being released.
