Rotary lights vandalized

Local News

Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Rotary Lights is facing some complications following a costly vandalism.

About 70 electrical pedestals were placed in Riverside Park last weekend, but vandals cut the cords on 22 of them.

The La Crosse police department is checking security cameras in the area to try and identify the suspects.

More than ten thousand dollars’ worth of cord was lost, which may cause changes to this year’s setup.

Rotary Lights President Pat Stephens said, “we’re not completely sure at this point that we can get replacement material, like everything else with empty shells, and trucking problems, and storage problems and so on, we’re not sure we can get the replacement on there, and if we can’t it’ll be a different look to the park.”

The security group that monitors riverside park during rotary lights is now on duty early to prevent any future damage.
