MADISON (WLAX/WEUX) – In a decision filed May 13, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled that Governor Tony Ever’s Safer At Home order, as issued by Andrea Palm, is “unlawful, invalid, and unenforceable.”

The order has been struck down, and it immediately lifts all restrictions on businesses and gatherings imposed by the order, but keeps in place the closure of schools until fall.

The court said, “We further conclude that Palm’s order confining all people to their homes, forbidding travel and closing businesses exceeded the statutory authority of Wisconsin Statute 252.02, upon which Palm claims to rely.”

This is the first time a statewide order has been knocked down by the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
