Sentencing of La Crosse man who shot police officer

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The sentencing of a man who shot a La Crosse Police Officer in 2019 took place this afternoon.

34-year-old Allen Kruk plead no contest last august to attempt of 1st degree intentional homicide.

He was sentenced to 15 years of confinement and five years of extended supervision with conditions.

The incident took place last fall when La Crosse Police Officers were responding to a domestic disturbance complaint. Kruk previously admitted he was trying to kill officer Dustin Darling who was shot while wearing a bulletproof vest.

Darling did return fire and Kruk was hospitalized from being shot. Other charges against Kruk in La Crosse and Monroe counties were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
