MEENON, Wis. (WLAX/WEAU) – One person is in custody in Burnett County after a woman was shot. The Burnett County Sheriff’s Office says it got a call yesterday (11/16/23) just before 5:30 p.m. that a woman had shot herself in the town of Meenon near Webster. She was flown to a hospital in the Twin Cities.

A man at the scene was taken into custody for questioning and the Sheriff’s Office says he is being held while charges are forwarded to the District Attorney. The Wisconsin DOJ’s Crime Lab is assisting in the investigation.
