EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Some people woke up with a fright this (Tuesday) morning. It wasn’t because of ghosts or goblins; it was because of snow. Aaron Nicholson, the Eau Claire Streets and Fleets manager says the division’s policy is to have their main 13 trucks ready by November 1st. With this in mind, they say they were more than ready for the snow.

Drivers this morning, on the other hand, weren’t so ready. David Ecklor, an inspector with the Wisconsin State Patrol says roads were slick for commuters, “We have over 20, you know, crashes or runoffs today with one personal injury. Last year during the snow season, we had over 15,000 crashes, 30 fatalities.”

Ecklor says drivers need to remember to slow down earlier and give enough stopping distance to help stay safe on those slippery roads.
