The first major winter storm of 2016 is beginning to wind down but not before dumping several inches of snow on most of western Wisconsin. Meteorologist Drew Williams is here with a first check of your Foxcast, Drew?
Thanks Bob, snow continues to fall for much of western Wisconsin this hour. Some impressive snowfall totals today, especially to the south. Many areas have received over half a foot of snow. Winter storm warnings are in effect until Wednesday morning. Coming up later in the show I’ll have more on this Groundhog Day storm as well as what the weather looks like for the next few days. Bob?
Here’s what it looked like earlier today as snow started to fall. Our viewers in the Coulee Region got hit by snow today staring around ten a.m.
Most area schools cancelled classes, including UW-La Crosse, Viterbo, and Western Technical College. Several Gundersen Health System and Mayo Health clinics closed early, but city transit buses still ran their normal routes.
