LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – If you were hoping to use South Avenue between Green Bay Street and Ward Avenue this weekend you may want to make new plans.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, that stretch of South will be closed for multiple construction projects from Friday, October 6th, through Sunday, October 8th. Along that stretch of South Avenue, crews will be mainline paving and paving the West Avenue roundabout, installing pull boxes and light bases, placing topsoil, and paving sidewalks and roadsides.

The La Crosse Municipal Transport Utility (MTU) will be running its normal routes during the weekend. Motorists are encouraged to use Jackson Street and Loise Boulevard to make their way around the construction zones.

You can find more information on the entire project online at projects.511wi.gov/14lacrosse. You can also contact the Public Involvement Tean by calling 608-386-8365 or emailing darci@devorpr.com

The project team would like to remind everyone of the safety hazards around a construction project and ask that you use caution in the work zone. Reduced speeds make driving safer for everyone.
