MONROE COUNTY, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A Tomah man is in custody and facing several charges after an incident that began outside a tavern in Monroe County.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, authorities responded to a report of shots fired outside a tavern on Main Street in Wilton just before midnight.
A tavern employee reported to authorities that 52-year-old Curtis Goulet was involved in a minor disturbance before he took a gun from his truck and fired two shots outside the tavern.
About ten minutes later, officers tried to stop Goulet in his truck on state highway 131 using deflation devices. Authorities say the suspect continued to his home where he was arrested and taken to the Monroe County Jail.
Police are recommending Goulet be charged on several offenses including attempted homicide, a third operating while intoxicated, and fleeing an officer.
The incident remains under investigation.
