TAYLOR COUNTY Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A 35-year-old Medford man is charged in a Taylor County crash that killed a woman and hurt her eight children. Skyler Opelt is charged with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle, and four counts of reckless driving. On November 24, deputies say Opelt crashed into a buggy on county highway C in the town of Little Black.

At the scene, deputies had to use Narcan on an unresponsive Opelt. Court documents say Opelt later admitted to snorting some kind of drug. Law enforcement officers say he was also on the phone at the time of the crash. A 36-year-old woman in the buggy died two days after due to her injuries.
