MENOMONIE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A spooky competition in Menomonie is challenging participants to think outside the box.

The Rassbach Museum is hosting its second annual historic haunted house competition.

Contestants create an original haunted house with an accompanying back story combining creativity and Halloween spirit.

Amber Kersting entered last years event and is back for a second time.

“my little house is dental office-themed. It’s a little dental office at the edge of the woods and they ask that you please come alone and it’s pretty horrifying. I don’t know why anyone would go in there at all, but also if you’re afraid of going to the dentist anyway it plays on some of those fears too.”

The haunted houses are on display until November sixth.

You can vote for your favorite house and a winner will be picked for adults, 16 and under and best story.
