Wis. – (WLAX/WEUX) – The Fourth of July holiday is when more pets are reported missing than any other time of the year, according to the American Kennel Club.
To help your pets stay safe this holiday, the Dunn County Humane Society says make sure your pet gets some exercise.
Playing white noise or classical music can also help.
Shelter Manager Lynnette Bryant-Thompson says even if your pet is microchipped, you may want to check to make sure the information associated with it is up to date.
“Make sure that your phone number is the same, your address is current, and all the information is correct. Where you got them microchipped, you might be able to get that information or you can look that up online. We also sell pet tags that can be engraved which has your phone number and name on it,” said Bryant-Thompson.
Bryant-Thompson also says your pet can read your emotions.
If you stay calm, it will help them stay calm too.
