Traditional trick-or-treating not recommended this Halloween

LA CROSSE/EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has put out guidelines for this year’s Halloween, recommending that families do not go door to door trick-or-treating or have in-person contact with others.

DHS recommends that in addition to no traditional trick-or-treating, no gatherings in-person should take place on the last day of October either.

The recommendation comes at the same time the CDC put out similar recommendations nationwide. However, Nurse Educator at HSHS Sacred Heart and Saint Joseph’s Hospitals says people can still have fun this Halloween.

Hannah Schroeder said, “A virtual costume party.  Why not invite your friends, do a virtual costume party whether it’s using Facebook and using a meeting room? Watch parties, maybe you are going to watch a movie together all dressed up.  Maybe you are in character for those movies.”
