Altoona, Wis. (WEAU) – A train derailed Saturday afternoon in Altoona at the corner of Bartlett Ave. and Sunday Drive.
A Union Pacific spokesperson said about 12 cars derailed in Altoona’s rail yard. The train cars were empty at the time. Altoona Fire Department Chief Mark Renderman said no hazardous materials were found in the derailed cars.
According to authorities, no one was hurt and roads near the tracks remained open as clean-up crews worked to clear the scene.
The incident is currently under investigation.
