A Union-Pacific Train derailed in Dunn County yesterday causing a pile up of train cars on Highway 12. The Menomonie Fire Department said it happened around 4 p.m. on Highway 12 at 190th Street near the village of Knapp.
Officials say there were no injuries reported, and no hazardous materials spilled or released. The Dunn County Sheriff said the area will be closed from County Road K to County Road Q for the train clean up. Avoid the area if possible. The roads that intersect the area in the vicinity have also been closed.
Officials with Union-Pacific have been sent to inspect the site. More information will be provided once their initial assessment is completed.
US 12 is also expected to be closed until the late afternoon hours today, Monday, January 13.
