Two people in Monroe County charged with six counts in animal abuse case

MONROE COUNTY, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Two people in Monroe County are charged with six counts in an animal abuse case.

40-year-old Elmer McCloud and 41-year- old Amanda Williams of Sparta is accused of mistreating a pregnant dog and her puppies, which resulted in their deaths.

According to the criminal complaint, on January 22, the Monroe County Dog Control Department was made aware of a sick, pregnant dog in need of vet care, which the owners could not afford.

Monroe County Dog Control took possession of the dog and a vet said it was too late to save her. According to the criminal complaint, McCloud and Williams have previous canine welfare complaints and illegal online listings selling dogs.

McCloud and Williams will next appear in court on March 22.
