RACINE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The US Marshals service says a person who shot and wounded a federal agent in Racine has taken his own life.

A US Marshal led task force was attempting to serve a warrant on the south side of the city this morning when an individual opened fire and an officer was hit in the shoulder.

The agent has non-life threatening injuries.

A statement from the federal agency said quote “members of the task force did not fire, but the subject apparently took his own life.”

Racine police add the federal agent was participating in a “multi-jurisdictional” operation.
