MENOMONIE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – UW-Stout is hoping to “smash COVID-19.”

University leaders hosted an event today promoting the u-w system’s new “70 for 70 campaign.”

If 70 percent of a campus’ student body gets their shot, every vaccinated student is entered to win a 7-thousand-dollar scholarship.

This as Mayo Clinic experts warn, with the delta variant spreading, now is the time to get your vaccine.

Dr. Richard Helmers, Mayo Clinic Regional Vice President said, “The time to get the covid-19 vaccine is now. Not next week, not a month from now, but today.”

Doctor Richard Helmers from Mayo Clinic says since someone isn’t considered fully vaccinated until at least two weeks after completing their vaccine series. Students and faculty should get the vaccine now to be ready for the fall start.
