UW-Eau Claire football players reinstated for racist social media posts

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A panel has found five students are not responsible for any violations listed in a Wisconsin administrative code, following an investigation into racial social media posts last year.

A panel of faculty, staff and students were investigating the November 2019 posts made by five UW-Eau Claire football players.

Chancellor James Schmidt says quote, “While we accept the ruling of the panel, it is not acceptable behavior for Blugolds to act in a racist manner”.

Football Coach Wesley Beschorner says the actions and statements by the five players are not conducive to promoting an environment of unity and inclusion within the football team, but he says based on the judicial process, the five students will be allowed back on the team roster.
