UW-Eau Claire’s Rapid Action Task Force opposes decision in campus investigation

Local News

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – This week, five UW-Eau Claire students were found not to be in violation of a Wisconsin administrative code.

Today, members of the campus’s EDI Rapid Action Task Force voiced opposition to the decision. This stems from an investigation into social media post made in November 2019 by five players on the UWEC football team.

In a statement, the task force claims there has quote “been no public apology, no requirement that those involved be held accountable, and no participation in restorative justice.”

Within the university’s decision on the incident, it was decided that the five students would be allowed back on the Blugolds roster.

The statement by the task force says its members had no involvement in the university’s ruling or in the decision to reinstate the players.
