In just four months, Valley Vineyard Church in Chippewa Falls has raised more than half of the funds it needs to rebuild.
Pastor Houle says the new church is expected to cost around $450, 000. The church took four bids from contractors and are hoping to accept a bid by the end of this month.
Houle says depending on the winter, they hope to start construction by May 1st and have the new church built and ready to go on September 1st, before the one year anniversary of the fire.
“Statistics tell you that you should lose 30% of your church believe it or not. We have not done that. We have maintained, and actually we’ve had visitors come and stay lately, so really in the life of our church we’re about right where we were at this time last year in fact we’re a little higher.”
Pastor Houle says although they have been a mobile church, moving from place to place to keep up with normal activities, all of their programs are still functioning and their food pantry numbers have even increased.
With 55 percent of the money raised, they still have a bit to go, but say they are thankful to the community.
