EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The victim in a fatal shooting on Friday has been identified and the suspect remains in the Eau Claire County Jail.
55-year-old Selwyn G. Smith appeared through a video conference this morning. He’s being held in connection to the shooting death of 38-year-old Freddie Flowers.
Prosecutors are asking for a 100-thousand dollar cash bond but Judge Jon Theisen adjourned the hearing, without setting bond, saying he wants the proper paperwork filed before proceeding.
The shooting took place on the 500 Block of Dodge Street, just east of downtown Eau Claire. The Eau Claire Police Department says he confessed to officers that he had shot flowers.
A preliminary hearing for smith is set for today.
