Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Governor Evers made a stop in Eau Claire today to celebrate a tourism grant awarded to Visit Eau Claire. The governor met with Visit Eau Claire representatives at the Pablo Center.

Visit Eau Claire was awarded more than 767-thousand dollars through the destination marketing organization program. The grant aims to help restore economic activity following the pandemic. Evers says during the month of September, the state saw great growth in tourism.

“Wisconsin’s tourism industry is one of the first and hardest-hit industries during the COVID-19 pandemic, but folks have been absolutely innovative and resilient and dedicated. They’ve risen to the challenges in front of them. And because of them, this industry is bouncing back.” Evers says Wisconsin’s tourism industry is recovering faster than in neighboring states like Minnesota and Illinois.
