Local volunteers spent time packing more than 40- thousand meals to help with the increasing number of refugees in the Middle East.

More than 200 people packed simple and staple meals at Calvary Baptist Church for Global Aid Network.
This is the first time an event for the aid network has been hosted in Wisconsin. Volunteers of all ages helped package meals of beans and rice.  Organizers say 144 meals can feed a family of five for a month.

“Some of the aid that has been available in these places has been cut back for various reasons and the number of people that need it are increasing, so it seemed like it was an opportunity for us in Eau Claire to be able to do something rather than say oh isn’t that too bad.”

The meals packaged today will be shipped out on Monday and go to areas near Jordan and Lebanon.
