35-year-old Chippewa Falls man arrested after months-long search

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – After a number of months, a search has come to an end.

Earlier this evening, Kane Berg was apprehended by Chippewa Falls police.

The 35 year old, wanted for multiple charges, including a 4th-offense of operating while intoxicated, threat to a law enforcement officer and fleeing from a patrol vehicle.

According to Police Chief Matt Kelm, Berg has escaped numerous arrest attempts in recent weeks.

CFPD and the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office barricaded part of water street and warren street in Chippewa Falls.

At this time those roads remain closed as the house berg was found at is currently on fire.

Police believe berg started the fire himself.

The CFPD and Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department were also assisted by the swat team. Kelm is calling the operation a true team effort.
